SleepyHead vs ResScan - SailingAway - 02-15-2015

The functionality of these 2 programs seems to be quite similar. Can someone tell me the differences between the two of them other than ResScan being only for ResMed machines?

Does the ResScan get any additional functionality with the ResMed machines?

Any reason to have both?

I got them working and installed and see many people here list both and wondered why?

Huh

I initially used both because some things were easier to read with SH than ResScan but I could run reports like I wanted from ResScan and a previous doc that I had told me that he would only use reports from ResScan when I gave him info from SH and then when I gave him the reports from ResScan he said, "Well, we don't know how they calculate the data so I found another doctor that is a whole lot better and definitely listens to me. Now, I mostly use SH and actually removed ResScan from my laptop.

I find SleepyHead much easier to use. It has a number of nice features and advantages over ResScan. However, it still has a few glitches.

ResScan is the official program from the manufacturer. It's useful if you want to doublecheck something in SleepyHead.

I have both, but vary rarely use ResScan.

Be sure to install the latest "testing" version of SleepyHead. It works as well as the "official" version of SH in my opinion.

Thanks... I've been playing around with both of them this afternoon. I like the displays and graphing of SleepyHead better. It seems from some of the documentation that SleepyHead has some special features for the Respironics units. Didn't know if maybe the ResScan had something special for the ResMed units. I haven't found it if there is.

I have the latest testing version. So far, all seems to work fine. Judging from the numbering it appears close to a 1.0 release. Seems like the developer removed all prior versions anyway.

The author of SH is a patient and an advocate for patient empowerment. jedimark is his moniker/pseudonym. It is my impression that he may have the help of a close set of beta-testers and possibly co-developers.

You may have read that he is currently having some health issues that are preventing him from working on this at the moment. I have no details. Many have been aided by him, and all wish him a speedy recovery.

Ok, sorry to hear about the health issues. Thanks for the information. Hope he recovers soon.

Is there a method for submitting bug requests?

I tried loading SleepyHead on my Mac, but see the functionality seems fairly different. For instance, I can't seem to find the ability to set what appears in the top flags bar like there is in the windows version. I am also unable to tell the program to ignore 5 minute naps. Smile Maybe someone on the board is running it on Mac would know.

Thanks as always. The board here is such a great resource.

I have only been using the ResScan software and am very happy with it.

What version of SH are you running?

RE: SleepyHead vs ResScan - SailingAway - 02-18-2015

Migrating to Macbook Air and running SH 0.9.6-Testing OpenGL.

Import screen shows 2 sliders. One combine close sessions and the other Ignore Short Sessions. They are set to OFF and can't be changed. Also can't figure out how to select what you want in the Event Flags pane at the top of the Daily page.

Are you running on a Mac?

Try the 0.9.8-1 version. It's the "testing" version. http://www.sleepfiles.com/SH/index.html?TestingVersions

I'm not running a mac.
