Q: Menu Option: Mask Style - LanceC - 03-22-2015

My AirCurve 10 VAuto has a menu option for mask style, offering options of Pillow, Nasal or Full-Face. What does changing this option actually do and how important is it that it is set correctly?

Thanks.

It better permits the machine to estimate the mask vent rate; and then calculate the unintentional leak rate.
It may also figure in to the FOT algorithm that scores the type of apnea. Since the FOT sends an oscillation in pressure and looks at the reflection in the high rate flow data, the mask type may figure into the "echo" or standing wave -- ergo, the apnea type scoring might be effected.

That makes sense. Thanks!
