Resmed Quattro Full Face Mask skin irritation - Mike1980 - 04-05-2015

Hi all,

Sorry if this is in another thread, I have recently purchased a resmed s10 auto and using the resmed Quattro f10 full face mask. Although I was using the same mask during my trial with the s9 auto and no issues, currently I have a skin irritation on either side of the bridge of my nose which is kind of sore and red in colour, is this because the mask in brand new or something else. I have also check and rechecked and readjusted the mask to that is seals properly without being too tight.

Any help or tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated. Smile

Regards,

Mike.

Mike1980, first FFMs are hard to control leaks, a couple of tips, I always have the hose coming from above my head either over a bed head or you can buy or make a hose lift.
This makes sure you don't get tangled and the mask is pulled up instead of down.
Also try mask liners for the leaks and the rash, you can buy them over the net or I make my own, here are the instructions:
I bought some Remzzz’s mask liners a 6 pack and although they say to only use them once you can wash them and get about 5-6 uses. I then made a template of what I needed from their liners and went to a fabric shop and got 3 ft of 50% cotton / 50% poly fabric and cut out my own and they also last 5-6 uses, the next time I bought 3 ft of 50% cotton / 50% lycra fabric. That last me about 3 months and costs about ten dollars. No need to do any sewing.
Ty those couple of things and see how you go, good luck.

Thanks for that Tez62, i will try those liners if the problem keeps happening all the time, im still kind of new to this cpap gig so its all basically just trial and error through adjusting.

Also on an unrelated topic is it normal to go through nearly a whole tub of water in the humidifier overnight with the resmed s10's ?, i have tried turning the humidification down to 3 and tube temp of 22 degrees.

Cheers Again Mike.

If you are having a high leak rate it will burn through water a lot faster

Thanks truetopath, my leak rate is hovering around 15-18 which i believe to be within acceptable limits? not 100% sure it does get darn cold over night in Melbourne though that may have something to do with it Smile

Mike, it seems strange, I live in Melbourne as well and have mine set at 21c, I have a Resmed S9 (the version before yours) but don't think I have ever ran out.
Most days I get to have or a quarter full at worst.
If it continues to happen you may want to get it checked out.

Just on your leaks, the 95 percentile should be below 24L, so some high leaks are ok, the 95 percentile is what your leaks are for 95% of the time.
