BiPap it is I guess - brianwood619 - 04-23-2015

Well I was warned in February and was told yesterday I will be transitioned to BiPap. My data card came back setting my machine to 20 due to the data my doctor was seeing. My AHI started climbing in January prompting the increased pressure, my wife said there are times while I'm on therapy that I am still snoring so apparently this is the next step. My son is on BiPap and he has had great success with it, so I am hoping for the same. I have been scheduled for a titration study next week for the new therapy.

If you're moving to bi-level therapy, here's something to consider.

Best of luck with your continued therapy.

Although your IPAP pressure will be set to 20, your post does not say what pressure support or EPAP pressure you will use. There are bilevel machines in fixed and auto models, just like CPAP. Both will offer separate inhalation and expiration pressure channels, but the auto will self-adjust to match your need at any time. If you can persuade the provider to provide auto bilevel that would be better (BiPAP PRS1 760, or Resmed S9 VPAP auto or Aircurve 10 Auto).

Welcome to the club. I think you'll find bilevel more comfortable, but it takes some time to get used to it.

Hi brianwood619,
I hope your titration goes well.

Yeah I have no idea what I'll find out on the study, maybe I do need more than 20, we'll see

Even if you only need 20, the conventional wisdom is that, at that pressure, you need a bilevel machine.

Yeah but I'm not looking forward to having to conch my mask down tighter because of the higher pressures
