best mask for ASV?? - storywizard - 05-05-2015 Hi there.. I am soon to take possession of an ASV machine, I was wondering if there is any particular advantage to any type of mask for this type of machine. At present with the CPAP set at 8, I am using nasal pillows, but have issues with leaks and the mask slipping off. So I am thinking of getting a full face or nasal mask to insure I keeping it on...any opinions?? Storywizard RE: best mask for ASV?? - Sleeprider - 05-05-2015 Nasal pillows of course are fine. If you don't lose air through your mouth, I'd just avoid a FFM because of the extra leak potential due to the larger surface area to maintain a seal. The EPAP pressure relief may help with keeping the mask in place, but I'm not exactly a leak specialist as it's never been a problem for me. Wish I had something more helpful to offer, but maybe your mask would be more secure if you added a cap (PAP cap, Softcap?) or something to stabilize the head gear. RE: best mask for ASV?? - trish6hundred - 05-05-2015 Hi storywizard, You might try a nasal mask or a different pillows mask, since you are having trouble with the P10. There are lots of masks out there. Good luck with it and CONGRATULATIONS! on the new machine. Great, I will see if I can find a way to keep the P10 from sliding around... I use an asv with a max pressure of 20 cm/h2o. If the P10 can work for you they are great. I was always losing my seal and leaking from my mouth, particularly when I was sleeping more deeply, with mine. I did manage to get my hands on a Respironics Amara wide view I'm testing, that are being released for sale in June. I've been using it for a week now and have been very happy with it. So, in less then a month, you'll have another great alternative if the P10 proves troublesome. And no Sleeprider....I'm not a Respironics fanboy. There is an older Amara... don't see the View anywhere...the older one is huge! lol Storywizard RE: best mask for ASV?? - JVinNE - 05-05-2015 I'm an ASV user, but I use a FFM; F&P Simplus, but I might switch to another FFM, because this one is denting my face. I just got a new cushion in the mail from the DME, so I want to see if it's any better. If it isn't, I'm willing to try a new mask, even though I love the simplicity and cleaning ease of this one. I need a FFM, because I sometimes mouth breathe in my sleep. I have some issues with rhinitis, and I can't use nasal sprays, because they make me jittery. I know a Respironics rep or two and snagged one from them. I really like it. But if course YMMV. RE: best mask for ASV?? - Sleeprider - 05-05-2015 Ohhhh! Something new to look for soon. Accurate, I'm one of the few who is not a Resmed fanboy. I am equal opportunity and use PRS1 machines and Resmed mask. |
