Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. has launched its authorized generic version of Provigil, for the improvement of wakefullness, made by Teva's newest subsidiary, Cephalon Inc. Cephalon will produce both the generic and brand versions of Provigil at its US plant. Brand Provigil has $1.1 billion in annual US sales, according to IMS sales data. It doesn't treat sleep apnea. It allegedly treats a SYMPTOM of sleep apnea. That's like saying Phenegran treats a migraine. They would be in big FDA trouble related to label claims if that were the case. This is a perfect example where some 3rd party story writer is doing a soppy job!. Teva's statement seems to be buried deeper in the article where it is stated "Teva subsidiary Cephalon will produce both the generic and brand versions of Provigil, which treats sleep apnea". |
