I don't see that under my settings.

Look at C0mbe's post. He is describing the same thing.

This has gotten two different concepts confused:

Exhale relief is not the same as specific mask type settings on PR machines.  EPR on resmed machines (and similarly, flex on PR machines) are forms of exhale relief.  These lower the pressure during exhale or EPAP and make it more comfortable to breathe.  My previous post was referring to specific mask setttings for PR masks when using a PR machine, I was not commenting on exhale relief.

Mask settings (X1, X0 etc on PR machines) are specific pressure settings for specific PR masks.  The dreamwear is a X1 mask.  On resmed, there is no number system, these are simply set as a nasal mask.  Think of this as fine tuning the machines pressure response for a given mask type.

Hopefully that clarifies - wasn't trying to confuse.

Sleepy

I'm a new user and I find the Dreamware mask comfortable with no meaningful leaks.  The Resperonics representative who was present when I picked up my machine said that overtightening the DreamWare mask can often lead to more leaks.  She showed me the suggested tension.  Sometimes it feels awful loose at night, but I resist adjusting tightening and leaks are not significant.  I do change sleeping positions often.

Yes you are right, I meant the mask setting as well. I did get the term confused.

Not a problem!  Just didn't want to steer you the wrong way.

I've had the same experience. .86 avg with Dreamwear, and 1.9 avg with Amara View. (Set on Auto 6-12.)

To be clear, are you saying on my Resmed S9 there is only one setting for nasal masks and I wouldn't need to bother changing that setting going from P10 pillows to Dreamwear? I'm also investigating a slight rise in API after switching masks.
Thanks in advance!

RE: AHI up on Dreamwear mask
The S9 has a setting for Pillow, Full Face, Nasal, and Nasal Ultra type of masks.  Both the P10 and DreamWear are both considered a Pillow type mask.  The P-R uses the "X" settings in place of this.

I was curious about the difference in the mask settings.  I contacted Resmed and the respondent couldn't even answer the question.   I tried using one mask setting and a different style mask to see if I could spot the difference,   The only thing that I noticed is that the Full Face setting is more tolerant of leaks as opposed of declaring a Pillows style.  It seems that the mask type setting is centered around mask volume more than anything else.

RE: AHI up on Dreamwear mask
Hmm. I wonder if one of those settings would make any difference, one thing I've noticed is that my Dreamwear flows a LOT more air volume than my P10, causing it to vent way more and when it does leak, it leaks a lot worse. I would like to fine tune it as it's a way more comfortable option for me.

RE: AHI up on Dreamwear mask
Not really. The machine determines the normal leak and will report the leak as anything above the normal. You might be successful on fudging your sleep numbers but nothing else.
