You probably already have answers. My sleep study was done at a public hospital no charge. It was booked for the day after my initial sleep doctor visit. A second sleep study was done three weeks later again as a public patient at no charge which I left with my prescription for cpap. I am in Melbourne but the health system is national. From there you can go to the cpap supplier of your choice and arrange for a trial machine and mask.
