Wording of prescription

Wording of prescription
It is time for me to get a new machine. I go through my GP vs the sleep doc. I want to make sure we get the wording right so I can get an APAP. I know they will argue with me but I'm prepared for that. Which is why I need to ensure the wording is correct.

So what should it say?

RE: Wording of prescription
Paula, just request the prescription to be written for the machine you want. I assume you're going for the Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset. Just put that in the prescription in the physician instruction or comments. section. As you know, the script could simply call out #E0601, or CPAP or Auto CPAP. Specifying the manufacturer, and model is the best policy. You already use CPAP at a range of pressure. That alone would get you an auto CPAP.

Magic words to add: "Dispense as Written"
That way if the specific machine is on the Rx, they can only provide that machine.

RE: Wording of prescription
So something like

"autoPAP, 15-20 cmH2O, mask and supplies

dispense as written"

or

"Airsense 10 Autoset for Her, 15-20 cmH2O, mask and supplies, dispense as written."

Although, didn't I read that the "for Her" algorithm is now in all of them?

Does it have to mention humidifier since it is so built in now? I know it had to for the S9 since it was such a separate unit.

And as a reminder, I was given an Escape as my last machine. I bought the Autoset myself from Supplier #2.

Go with the more specific or they may say a PR dreamstation fits the Rx.
I would add the humidifier. Do you use a heated hose? (Let's assume you do.)

"ResMed Airsense 10 Autoset for Her with humidifier and heated hose, 15-20 cmH2O, dispense as written."

RE: Wording of prescription
My current prescription was written by my GP with my instructions. In it I mentioned I needed an APAP, the machine, the pressure settings. He was very happy to do this for me. I used this to upgrade my 'loaner' from a set CPAP to an auto machine. Best thing I ever did. While I am based in Australia, I still need a prescription to purchase a machine. Love Mongos suggestion 'dispense as written'.

I think the above is perfect.  I would write it down and hand it to your doctor to copy.
