IN PROGRESS

This page describes the underlying data available from PR System One data files, distinct from how they might be interpreted or imported into OSCAR.

Machine Families

PR System One machines are divided into families with specific versions and are denoted, e.g., F0V2 for family 0, version 2:

Family Version Model Number Name

Pressures

Pressures are recorded in varying ways, depending on the machine model:

Channel Models Description
Pressure Set F0 For single-pressure therapy, this is the target pressure, reported as individual events, which are linearly interpolated. For CPAP, this results an event at t=0 and an event at t=end, both with the prescribed pressure. For Auto-CPAP, this results in an event at t=0 with the starting pressure, then another event with the same pressure at t=X, and the next target pressure at t=Y, resulting in a linearly increasing (or decreasing) pressure between times X and Y, with subsequent events following the same pattern.
IPAP Set F0 For bi-level therapy, this is the target IPAP, reported as individual events along with EPAP Set (see below), which are linearly interpolated. See Pressure Set above for more detail.
EPAP Set F0, F5 For bi-level and autoSV therapy, this is the target EPAP, reported as individual events, which are linearly interpolated. See Pressure Set above for more detail.
Pressure Average F0V4 and higher A periodic statistic indicating the average pressure for the preceding 2 minutes. For bi-level therapy, this appears to be a true average, sitting between EPAP and IPAP. For single-level therapy, it is unclear whether this is the average pressure or the average effective EPAP when a Flex mode is enabled.
EPAP Average F5, F3 A periodic statistic indicating the average EPAP for the preceding 2 minutes.
IPAP Average F5, F3 A periodic statistic indicating the average IPAP for the preceding 2 minutes.
IPAP High F5 A periodic statistic indicating the maximum IPAP in the preceding 2 minutes.
IPAP Low F5 A periodic statistic indicating the minimum IPAP in the preceding 2 minutes.
Opti-Start Pressure F0V4 and higher (Tentative) An occasional individual event that appears to indicate a change in the Opti-Start pressure for future sessions. (Not currently imported)

Events

Channel Models Description
Pressure Pulse F0, F5V3 and higher, F3V6 and higher An individual event indicating a pressure pulse used by the machine to distinguish between OA and CA events. The meaning of its data value is currently unknown.
Obstructive Apnea (OA) F0, F5, F3V6 An individual event indicating an obstructive apnea event. No duration is reported.
F3V3 A periodic statistic indicating the total number of obstructive apnea events in the preceding 2 minutes. These are currently imported as individual evenly spaced events across the 2-minute interval.
Clear Airway Apnea (CA) F0, F5, F3V6 An individual event indicating an clear airway apnea event. No duration is reported.
F3V3 A periodic statistic indicating the total number of clear airway apnea events in the preceding 2 minutes. These are currently imported as individual evenly spaced events across the 2-minute interval.
Hypopnea (H) F0, F5, F3V6 An individual event indicating a hypopnea event. No duration is reported. Some machines (F0V2346) report multiple variations of HY whose distinctions are unknown. Some of them include additional unknown data.
F3V3 A periodic statistic indicating the total number of hypopnea events in the preceding 2 minutes. These are currently imported as individual evenly spaced events across the 2-minute interval.
Flow Limitation (FL) F0, F5 An individual event indicating an flow limitation event. No duration is reported.
RERA (RE) F0, F3V6 An individual event indicating an respiratory-related arousal. No duration is reported.
Vibratory Snore (VS) F0, F5 An individual event indicating a vibratory snore event, drawn on official waveform reports. No duration is reported. This is currently imported as "VS2" to distinguish from the VS statistic (see below).
Timed Breath (TB) F5, F3V6 An individual event indicating the machine initiated a timed breath. The duration is reported in 100ms units.
Periodic Breathing (PB) F0, F5, F3V6 An individual event indicating a span of time during which periodic breathing was detected.
Large Leak (LL) F0, F5, F3V6 An individual event indicating a span of time during which a large leak was detected.
PRS1_0E (??) F0 only An individual event indicating a span of time during which some unknown characteristic was detected.
Apnea Alarm F3V6 only An individual event indicating an apnea alarm at that time.

Statistics

Most statistics are reported every 2 minutes, summarizing the preceding 2 minutes (or less, at the end of a session or slice).

Channel Models Description
Total Leak F0, F5, F3 A periodic statistic indicating the average(?) total leak for the preceding 2 minutes.
Unintentional Leak F5V1 and higher, F3 A periodic statistic indicating the average unintentional leak for the preceding 2 minutes.
Snore Count (VS) F0, F5, F3V6 A periodic statistic indicating the total number of vibratory snores in the preceding 2 minutes. These are drawn as flags in the detailed overview, but not on official waveform reports.
Respiratory Rate (RR) F5, F3 A periodic statistic indicating the average breath rate (BPM) for the preceding 2 minutes, reported as an integer.
Patient-Triggered Breaths (PTB) F5, F3 A periodic statistic indicating the percentage of patient-triggered breaths in the preceding 2 minutes.
Minute Ventilation (MV) F5, F3 A periodic statistic indicating the average minute ventilation for the preceding 2 minutes.
Tidal Volume (TV) F5, F3 A periodic statistic indicating the average tidal volume for the preceding 2 minutes.
Peak Flow Rate F3V3 only A periodic statistic indicating the peak flow rate in the preceding 2 minutes. Only needed in F3V3 as it does not report a flow waveform.
Test 1 F3V6 only A periodic statistic of unknown significance.
Test 2 F3V6 only A periodic statistic of unknown significance.
Snores at Pressure F0 An end-of-session series of statistics dividing the total snore count based on the target pressure (single or IPAP and EPAP) when they occurred. (Not currently imported)
