Tonsillectomy

A tonsillectomy is a surgical procedure where the tonsils are removed. There are two tonsils, one on each side of the throat, located just beyond the uvula. The tonsils are considered the 'first line of defense' in the immune system. (citation needed?)

A tonsillectomy is part of the Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty surgery.
