AArdy23 - Therapy Thread
Hi All -

First time posting here, and have appreciated all of the information I've been able to gather from this site as I've navigated my start with CPAP (I'm now 2 months in).

I'm curious if anyone else has noticed misalignment in AHI data reported by an Airsense 11 machine vs what I see on OSCAR.

Last night my machine reported 0.5 AHI (0.2 OSA, 0.2 CA) on the SleepView screen, though my OSCAR data indicates a 0.26 AHI with only 2 CA events noted.  This is the first time I've observed data not matching.

Edit: OSCAR data attached.

Thank you!

- Aardy

RE: Airsense 11 Data vs Oscar
Hi AArdy23! - Welcome
What reporting period is your AS11 set to? Based off of your OSCAR chart, you used your CPAP for 7.566666667 hours and 2 OAs reported. This will yield 2/7.566666667 = .264317181 AHI. The AS11 may be displaying a rounding error.

RE: Airsense 11 Data vs Oscar
Hi - thanks for your reply.  I’m not sure how there could be a rounding error from 0.26 AHI to 0.5, seems like a wide gap.

I’ve not reviewed my reporting period.  Where do you check this, and how might this affect misalignment in data?

Thanks,
Aardy

RE: Airsense 11 Data vs Oscar
The default reporting period, at least for the 9 and 10 series, was 1-month. Anytime the power is cycled on the Resmed, it will reset back to the default period. I am guessing the 11 series is no different. I don't have the machine in front of me, but I believe it is under the Report menu and was named "Period".

Question
Spike in OSA - guidance needed

Hello All -

I'm in need of some guidance.  I woke this morning around 4am to find I had a spike in OA's during the night, which is very unusual for me.

My AHI is normally around 0.3, and usually only see a couple Centrals and a Hypopnea here and there.  I'll get an OA every once in a while.  I use the N30 nasal mask with Airsense 11, and I've been running my settings at 6.2 with EPR at 2.  This pressure for me has resulted in minor mouth leaks, which almost never exceed 5 lpm.

In an effort to eliminate these mouth leaks, I've done some research and decided to try mouth taping with a 1in wide piece applied horizontally across my mouth.  My first two nights ran around 0.5 AHI and my leaks were almost zero.  My third night (last night) I saw OSA spike and had 7 total OA events.  I couldn't believe this.

Some of my OA events lasted 30+sec, and I can see that I hit my max pressure of 10 cm which probably resulted in more OA's without more pressure available, but this is still very usual for me to see.  Even at much lower pressures I almost never see OA's.

I've attached a usual night for me (prior to mouth taping), and have also included two of the nights I've mouth taped (including last night, with 1.51 AHI).  I really appreciate any insight any of you might share.

Thank you!

SpO2 & Pulse drop to zero during night
Hi All - hoping someone can shed some light on an odd variance in my SpO2 and Pulse data last night.  At some point it appears both drop to zero for around 11 sec.

I would assume this coincided with a moment where my finger may have come loose in the Oximeter, but it appears to align with some breathing disturbances in my flow rate data.

Appreciate any thoughts you might share.

Thank you!

RE: SpO2 & Pulse drop to zero during night
It was most likely displacement or completely coming loose or off of your finger - the finger probe from the O2 sensor.

The mechanical part of the oximeter could have possibly malfunctioned as well.

It would not drop to complete zero if functioning correctly.
