APAP machine wakes me up

APAP machine wakes me up
This is new to me, just diagnosed.

I have the ResMed Airsense 11 APAP machine with nose mask, heated hose and built in humidifier.
I'm a side sleeper.
I have insomnia, often waking after 4-5 hours of sleep and unable to get back to sleep.
I have tinnitus, and use a white noise machine to help me fall asleep.

For the last 2 weeks I've been trying to get used to this machine. The issue is I am sleepy, I put on my mask and read for ~10 minutes until I'm barely awake. I turn of my light and try to go to sleep. Over the course of the next hour I get progressively more and more alert and awake, until I give up and get out of bed (with insomnia you never want to stay in bed wide awake, it trains your brain to stay awake in bed) and wait until I'm sleepy again and go back to sleep.

A few times I've tried using the machine after already failing the first hour but the second attempt does the same, waking me up, getting out of bed until sleepy, going back to bed. As you can imagine, the next day was horrible with only a few hours of sleep.

Anyone else have this experience of the CPAP machine waking you up and making you more alert and not able to fall asleep? Any and all advice appreciated.

RE: APAP machine wakes me up
I can relate to your problem. I have been using CPAP for 24 years, I also have Tinnitus and I wake up after 4-5 hours of actual sleep about 40% of the time. That being said it would be best if you could post a few OSCAR charts so I or someone else can see if your CPAP settings could be causing you to wake up.

Thanks! I did just install OSCAR and put an SD card into the machine to get more data. I've just been looking at My Air so far.

Hopefully I'll be able to post more detailed data tomorrow.
