APAP necessary?

RE: APAP necessary?
I need to be more consistent with them to reap the benefits.
I also  bought and use REMplenish™ Myo-Nozzle - Adult size and stainless steel straws from Amazon .

RE: APAP necessary?
Hi again!

Seems I have managed to reduce significantly Obstructive Apneas (OA) but tonight I had several Clear Airway (CA) events.
Any idea what this means? Can I prevent them as well in some way?

Great job with reducing the Obstructive events.

How did you feel when you woke up and went about your day?

Clear Airway (CA) events are a bit of a mystery, these could be treatment emergent events.
Did you have Clear Airway (CA) events in your sleep study?

More concerning is the fragmented sleep.
Did the leaks wake you up around 4:20 am?
Wonder what woke you up around 6 am?

RE: APAP necessary?
Hi jdougc,

My sleep is great in the last days. In the mornings I always feel I had a good rest and I am in a fully energetic mode!
The only bad thing is that during sleep I get tired being on my side & sometimes I wake up to turn to the other side.
The tennis balls prevent me from sleeping supine although I feel I would like to stay supine.
Probably that's why I wake up several times in the night.
I am using a pillow between the legs but seems the lower part of the body takes the weight and it looks for some rest..
I do not know if I can do something about this.
Maybe if a I change the bed mattress (which is > 10 years old) could help.

At 4:20 probably it was the leak that woke me up but then I stopped the machine to go for a pee!
At 6:00 an accidental alarm woke me up and I had to stop the machine & go to find & stop the alarm! Smile

At the sleep study (which lasted 7 hours & 48 minutes) I had just 2 central apneas & 0 central hypopneas.
They both happened at Non-supine position.

Glad to hear that you always feel you had a good rest and are in a fully energetic mode.

Many side sleepers usually have to roll over through the night, I do.

You could look for a memory foam mattress topper to extend the life of your mattress.
This memory foam benefits side sleepers.
Memory foam is one of the best materials for pressure relief, yielding to the body while supporting its curves.

Hi,

Any idea if this screenshot implies I should increase the max pressure?
Since I started using APAP this was the first time I saw so many OVAs in such a small time period!
Can this series of events be explained in some way?

RE: APAP necessary?
Hi,
I am getting used to APAP quite well. In the recent nights I usually had an AHI of around 2 which I think its fine.

Tonight I was wearing the soft cervical collar, the kinesiology mouth tape, a T-shirt with tennis balls at the back and of course the APAP machine.
However, I noticed that for a period of 15 minutes I had a lot of Obstructive Apneas.
I am not sure what might have caused them, I do not know what else I can do to improve/avoid them!

Any ideas would be much appreciated.
