Advice - First night with new machine
#11
RE: Advice - First night with new machine
The sleep study results help us to see that you had very few apnea and mainly hypopnea during your study. While the apnea index is very small OA is 0.4 and CA is 0.8. The hypopnea were never classified as obstructive or central. I suspect with CPAP pressure, your central apnea tendencies emerged and that is what we see in your results. The AHI is not too alarming, but I suspect you will ultimately benefit from ASV. We can see how your therapy progresses, but eventually, if the AHI does not drop to an acceptable level, and you don't feel the benefits of CPAP therapy, you will need to argue for an ASV titration. The tendency to central apnea is subtle in your diagnostic test, but if they put you into a bilevel titration it will bloom with the pressure support, and ultimately require ASV.
