Advice needed on new machine

Advice needed on new machine
Sorry, I've been out of commission for awhile, and it's too much to explain.
However, I have a question about the Aircurve 10 that I've used since 2022 (I bought after the recall).  I'm sure that there are plenty of users here who have close to 10,000 hours like I have on mine.

I'm seeing my sleep doctor tomorrow for a prescription for a new machine.  I love the Aircurve 10, and hope I can use it for a little longer, but, as they say, all good things come to an end.  I suppose one reason I'm doing this is because I have not used my DME company for 11 years, even though I'm eligible.

Not to get into politics, but we do not know what the next few months will be like, with the likes Musk, Trump cutting out all kinds of things out of the government.  I'd like to use the "play it better safe than sorry" tactic and get a new machine while it's still possible, and also since I bought my own machine last time (after the recall, it was impossible to find a Resmed machine in my home town - 1 or 2 were actually available, but companies would not issue any).

I've heard different opinions about the aircurve 11, and so the reason for this post is to get opinions of users who are, like me, getting close to the 10,000 hour mark on the Aircurve 10.
Your experiences are very valuable to me and thanks for any advice that you can offer.

I would go ahead and just call your DME and make sure you’re good to go. USE THEM, I think the asv out of pocket is around $1700. Let Medicare help.

Once you get a new one, you can keep your old one for a back up.

Is it due to the 10K hours that you are looking to get a new machine? That in itself is about halfway to ResMed's end of life.

Or is it for the political issues you talk about not talking about?

Or, number 3, you need a different level of machine than the VAuto listed in you left panel user data?

Question 4, 5: why the new script? Don't you have your copy of the last one?

If you want a new one, get the 10 again. There are more complaints about the 11.

Thanks for the replies.  My sleep person (a nurse practitioner) told me, based on my history, that she could only prescribe an aircurve 11.  She also said that it may turn out that I may have to have another sleep study (I hope not) if the insurance requires it.  But if it saves me around $1700, I guess I would do it.

According to her, patients have been doing o.k. with the machine.  But I'm still not so sure.   I go to the DME tomorrow to talk about this.

Insurance does not need another sleep study, just the prescription for the machine.

If I were you I would demand the ResMed AirCurve 10 Vauto.

Under Medicare guidelines you do not need another sleep study, I just went through this for my 5 yr replacement. Face to face with your DR. and your Dr just document's that it works and you need it. Done! I think the DME needs this info to get paid from Medicare and probably other insurance companies require it also.

Agreed, no more sleep studies. Insurance will not require it as a current CPAP user.

The ResMed 11 series VAuto was what I recently tried. I myself didn't experience the negatives some mentioned like noise, etc. It should be just fine.
