Can't recall my Resmed 10 AutoSet smelling when it was presented to me. Then again, my sense of smell is kind of like my hearing ability, both are more-or-less, going by the wayside.
You might try letting it sit outside in the bright sunlight for a day or so. Give it some time, and it will most likely diminish greatly.
