Don't worry about squeezing them.  You can squeeze the bejeesuz out of them and once they are completely dried out, they will bounce back.

I do not worry about squeezing them when they are dry.  I do not find it necessary to try and squeeze every drop of water out when I wash them.  I prefer to just give them a couple of days to dry, and they always do. For me personally, the foam is durable.
