Airsense 11 not flagging obvious events

RE: Airsense 11 not flagging obvious events
Roger that for the soft cervical collar @super7pilot, ordering one now.

I already sleep with a flat latex pillow but I'm a side sleeper who flips sides 4-5 times per night so it's entirely possible that I land with a tucked chin once in a while.

I keep finding more egregious examples of unflagged events every day. It seems preposterous that ResMed would ignore the flatline below Too-funny

Are millions of people on CPAP devices seeing their respiratory problems getting ignored and even worse, fed inaccurate AHI results? Who will go back to their clinicians for adjustments if everything seems fine all the time?

Sometimes in my older charts. I would see some strange readings and the brain trust showed where it was ‘sleep/wake junk’ when you are awakened ‘for any reason’ during the night, sloppy breathing can show up. This sloppy breathing is from awaking for the day, rolling over in bed, a bad dream, stuffy nose, tucking your chin for a moment. That is why the medical field had to come to a decision on how long it lasts before it is an ‘event’

The transition from sleep breathing to awake breathing isn’t like flipping a light switch. It’s a process that is a bit sloppy.

Over analyzing every little squiggle will just result in stress and frustration.

How are you feeling? You said you felt better after adjusting your pressure. Did you get that collar and use it? If not, do that before you drive yourself nutty.

If by chance those flattened Flow Rate areas were Central based, the inaction you get is what needs to be done. You do not want the CPAP AutoSet to try to increase pressure for a Central event it cannot treat. For the AutoSet to try to act will very likely make this worse.
Mask Primer

Positional Apnea

Attach OSCAR, etc.

Yes I ordered The Eliminator sleep cushion, the one with the curved chin rest. But I haven't received it yet.

I understand what you're telling me but I did have a few central apneas (clear airways) get flagged since starting CPAP therapy so it's not something Resmed ignores.

Just pointing out I didn't say it would or would not ignore, but it's programmed to do nothing against a CA therapy wise. Otherwise why it acts like this I don't really know.

And I'm not certain it's a general ResMed issue. It may be your specific machine, it could be lots of other things too unfortunately.

Just providing feedback super7pilot to say thank you for the suggestion to get a soft cervical collar, it has completely eliminated my clustered positional apneas. If these results keep up, I think I'll get another sleep study done with the collar, but without CPAP support, to see if I can ditch CPAP altogether.

APAPpy, RESULT!!!

I’m so, so glad it worked for you. and they are cheap as chips.

who would have thought that tucking the chin could result in so many apnea events.

I like the looks of that collar. No bulk in the back and likely much cooler in the warm season.

That Eliminator collar *is* amazing. It's not warm at all and as you stated, it frees up the back of your neck completely. It's also very forgiving in terms of how tight you adjust the large elastic band, I kept mine barely taught and had no problems at all  Smile
