Anxiety Medications and CPAP

RE: Anxiety Medications and CPAP
"However many on this site and forum were so so encouraging. Reading widely here helped me understand the process. It also took me some time to get a card reader as well as my Mac does not have a SD slot. I used MyAir initially but it was only when I got the USB reader and was able to upload Sleepyhead data that I took control of my therapy and was able to dial the right figures. With data, the Gurus here guided me and 'held my hand' whilst I changed settings with confidence proven by my sleepyhead reports."

And see, this is great. You guys and the ones at the other board have been very helpful and it's nice to know I'm not alone. But truly? I - we - shouldn't have to have all of us playing amateur doctor even when they're doing it so well. What that is telling me is that lots of us have problems and evidently more than a few doctors are falling down on the job. If they prescribe this treatment, they need to make sure that it's working properly for us and/or work with us (or have someone on staff) to work with us until it does.

I am grateful for you guys and it's mighty generous to help others. But I'm also rather steamed at the lack of medical support by doctors.

Quote..........At any rate, I am getting a cold. And I'm sick as well as being sick and tired of not falling asleep before 5, at the earliest. I don't need or want the stress of the CPAP when I'm sick (bad timing!) and so I'm going off of it until I'm well. Plus - I'm going back to the pulmonologist as soon as I can get in there. I need to get this sorted properly. And I need to get my sleep schedule back to regular. .....Unquote

I have a cold but I still sleep with my nasal pillows. I just have a last few blows of my nose, clear it up sa best as I can and put the pillows on. It helps clear up congestion. I have just woken up and nose is running again!! The pillows help me sleep and get better.

Quote..........Once the holidays are done, I'll look into the card reader. They're not too high in price and it looks like they'd also be useful for getting pics off the iPhone as well. I'm not sure if my CPAP machine has a card in it. Then I can do all that crap to get the charts. Looks like a bunch of work but once the holidays are done I can properly focus on this.........Unquote

You can get both an SD card and card reader on the internet. My machines came with an SD card but my daughter got a USB card reader for me online as she got fed-up of me borrowing her computer.

Quote..........The irony is that even though I score 99s and 100s regularly, I'm still tired, sore and exhausted during the day. That is really disappointing. I know I have fibromyalgia and that could account for it, but I expected *some* improvement and other than possibly a bit more energy - nothing. It's very frustrating given how hard I'm working to stick this. I regret the day I ever went to the doctor and said I felt like a zombie. Now I'm an ANXIOUS zombie!..........Unquote

What is this scoring you refer to? IS it Resmed MyAir? I.f so, then the SD card slot is to the left side. Open it with the tiny flap and see if a card is in there. If it is push in slightly and it will pop out

You might want to look into this. The machine does have its own internal memory, but it is pretty limited. If you want your doctor to be able to view your detailed data, then you'll need an SD card (and take it with you to the appointment).

I can't recall how much info they can see via the clinician side of MyAir, and I do not know how long any detailed info might be stored. Most of their interest in keeping records has to do with your compliance and overall statistics.

I will sort all of this after the holidays. I went off of CPAP due to a cold that is developing. Plus - I'm hunting for a new pulmonologist. This one/her office is just not cutting it. The communication there sucks. I shouldn't have to go to my primary doctor and here for answers. They should be stepping up and they're not so goodbye.

The system here is very different from yours but I have also found that the sleep technicians at the Hospital's sleep clinic, whilst very helpful, as they do not 'suffer' they do not really know what it actually feels like to be left as debilitated as we are with constant lack of sleep. I know it is also the cutting off of oxygen supply which is the exhausting thing and of course, the dangerous thing.

When I was a new mother, many many years ago, and was feeding my babies through the night I also suffered sleep deprivation through long periods. With 2 babies hot on the heels of each other, at times it felt like it was never ending. HOWEVER there is one significant difference-I was not deprived of oxygen when I was asleep despite low sleep levels for extended periods. This apnea condition, if left untreated, leaves us a residue of our former selves.

So what I am trying to say is, I think it is really really hard for a non sufferer to truly understand. Indeed a sleep specialist should make it their business to know all about it but may not fully appreciate the depths of despair we can feel. I do however think it is a relatively newly understood phenomenon as we evolve to be back sleepers. And of course there are those who says there are many undiagnosed and untreated sufferers out there.

We do understand and have come foggily out the other side. I think it is that old adage, it takes one to know one..........

So lean on us for the daily and nightly support but fight for what you need with the medical profession.
