Any reason for new AVS machine

Any reason for new AVS machine
My ResMed AirCurve 10 AVS is a little more than 5 years old. ResMed says that it should be replaced after 5 years. But is there really any reason to do so? It seems to be working fine and I have never had a problem with it. Maybe the mechanics or software is better now but I didn't see any indication on the ResMed site that improvements had been made. Any reason to get a new one even it is covered by insurance?

RE: Any reason for new AVS machine
It is mainly based on hours. I believe the A10 series is rated for 22,000 hours. I think the 5-year schedule is a Medicare thing.

RE: Any reason for new AVS machine
The machine is so expensive, that it is worth refurbishing after the motor life exceeded error shows up at 21k-22k hours. My recommendation is to get a new machine if your insurance allows and refurbish the old one through Supplier #28. They will install a new motor, reset the hours and can clean and refurbish any seals. I had them do my Vauto. An ASV is a no-brainer. Replacement of an advanced device can take time to get approved, so it just makes sense to have a spare.
