Are there people who simply cannot tolerate CPAP?
I have heard that it takes time, but are there some people for which cpap is not working and/or tolerate?

RE: Are there people who simply cannot tolerate CPAP?
We could better help you if you downloaded Oscar and posted some charts. Oscar is our apnea reporting program which produces wonderful charts that show us many aspects of each night's sleep. You can read about it and download it at the top of every page in the black ribbon.
With some charts, we can determine what is going on and help you make changes to enable better sleep. Best wishes for achieving great therapy and comfort! ![]()

Wearing a mask attached to a CPAP machine that doesn’t get my events under 5 after over a month.
RE: Are there people who simply cannot tolerate CPAP?
It's just not normal to sleep with a mask on all night long. But.....with some patience, some can overcome it and do find that they can do it.
I started back on Sept. 11 of 2018. From the very 1st night, I did very well. Slept all night with it on. And, I continued to do well. Even with good #'s, I just wasn't feeling any better for it. I kept at it, kind of on and off at times. Because I was sleeping "okay" thru the night, I was hoping that things would improve for me, not that I was suffering all that much. I had some AFIB issues that needed to be addressed, and I had that done. Last September I had a Catheter Ablation and that seemed to make a noticeable difference. Enough of one for me to quit CPAP Therapy for a good while. It's been at least a good 2.5 months since I've worn a mask. Everyone is different and that makes it even more complicated. Give "it" some more time for you to adjust. ![]()

I don't know the answer, but my guess would be a no. I think it's an issue of mind over matter, and if you dedicate yourself to the task you can achieve it.

You are not using software so you have no way of knowing if the machine's settings are optimized to deliver effective therapy. One thing I know for sure is that unless you are one of those very rare cases who has medical providers who take the time to look at ALL the data and make adjustments, you are among the vast majority of us who have to undertake the task on our own. Take the advice you've been given and get OSCAR. You haven't taken advantage of the amazing support you can get here on ApneaBoard once you make that decision to get that free software and use it to post your charts here so that you can avail yourself of this help.

Please download and post charts from Oscar. That will help us visually see what the problems might be.

Pzin1, you would receive better help if you asked these questions on your therapy thread, since people didn't see your oscar charts.
Are you reluctant to make your own changes to your machine? We all were at one time, but instead of quitting and risking our health, with heart issues,we asked for help and guidance here. Good luck and stay with it. Ask any questions! |
