Being Sick And Using CPAP

Being Sick And Using CPAP
Maybe a stupid question but will being sick affect CPAP therapy or vise versa? I think I'm coming down with something(100.1 fever)and this will be a first time being sick with CPAP.

RE: Being Sick And Using CPAP
Using an ASV didn't affect my illnesses much. I suppose try it and if things go bad, it's not a too big deal if you hang the mask up for a night. Bottom line do what's best for you.
Mask Primer

Positional Apnea

Attach OSCAR, etc.

"ASV"?

I use nasal pillows so I'd have to either skip or use a mask that I have that I haven't tried for an entire night that sits below the nostrils and covers the mouth. Fortunately I haven't gotten sick since wearing N95 masks during the pandemic and beyond (because I don't even like getting colds). Before that if I got a respiratory illness, it would usually go into my chest, so coughing all night probably wouldn't work very well with the full mask either.

And how would you  sanitize everything so you don't re-infect yourself?

RE: Being Sick And Using CPAP
I have never used a full-face mask. Colds, flu, sinus infections, Covid; it doesn't matter. The pressure helps me to clear my nasal passages and I feel better, when I feel terrible. As far as disinfection, it's not an issue. You won't give yourself your own disease or infection. You may be infecting the mask, but it won't reinfect you. Normal cleaning with soap and water. Just get through it as best you can, and use medications to alleviate symptoms. The therapy gives you the option to increase humidification and can help push congestion out, making breathing easier. Don't worry about it too much. Carry on and hope you feel better soon.

I usually just suck it up and use my machine regardless. Haven't found a good work around when I'm sick.

RE: Being Sick And Using CPAP
I used mine, with a nasal pillow type mask (Bleep) right through a bad case of Covid with no problems. I say keep at it. It will likely help with your illness. I know I slept better than I would have without it, which is extra important while sick.
Machine:  ResMed AirCurve 10 Vauto
Mask:  Bleep DreamPort Sleep Solution and F&P Nova Micro
