Help... no prescription.
I need some advice. I've been successfully self administering my cpap for four years now. I had a sleep study long ago before it was a thing froma video tape I brought in to an ear/nose/throat doctor. It was before cpap machines. I had an operation as a result which mitigated a lot of my obstructions. I was an ahi of 65 then went down to 15-20. Later on, when the dangers of even that became known I got on Amazon and bought a Phillips Dreamstation and for four years have had very low ahi readings. Under 1 most of the time. I'm familiar with the setup and concepts and I read all the graphs in Oscar.
As you may know, the dreamstation has issues and a 'cease use recommendation' has been released. I figure it's time for me to buy a new one and I've always thought I'd move to a Resmed autosense. But this time around no one online, it seems, will sell one without a prescription. I just want to order one, set it up and keep sleeping.
Does anyone know of a way to get one of these machines without the prescription? It was easy four years ago.. Amazon. Arrived two days later.
Thanks, Dan

Try
Supplier #2.
Call them and explain your situation as you did here. They may be able to help.

I did not need one at
Supplier #2. I bought one for me and one for my son. Both were slightly used 1 month and the other 1 week) with no RX.

Thank you, I'll call them in the morning.

Dan, if you have a physician that looks after your general care, I don't see why that could not be a source for a prescription. Your past history, CPAP use and ongoing therapy are more than enough for any physician to write the script. I don't use a sleep specialist for my prescriptions. Keep it simple, and just ask your doctor's office if he will manage your ongoing CPAP care.
RE: Help... no prescription.
Thanks to all of you regarding recommending Vendor #2, Second Wind CPAP. The nice lady said, "no prescription, sure". I ordered the Resmed S10 Autoset with heated tube. They had no interest in buying my Phillips dreamstation. I asked them as a joke of course. If Phillips ever replaces/repairs the dreamstation I'll have two, but I'm not thinking that will ever happen. This is what I'm thinking they're going to do. "You've got a 3 yr old dreamstation? We'll prorate it and give you $50 towards the dreamstation 2".
Anyway, The Resmed is on the way, the price was right and they even had the 12 volt adapter for my RVing this summer.
Or course the 11 is out now right? But it will be more expensive and probably not available without prescription any time soon. And the S10 has a good history so it will be fine.
I've been lurking on the forum for a long time. My first questions and I hit gold. Many thanks.
RE: Help... no prescription.
Glad that worked out for you.
They are a good source for cpaps and they stand behind their sales too.
