Bleep Halo irritation fix
I finally found a mask I can use that doesn’t cause my claustrophobia to kick in…the Bleep Eclipse. However (because there’s always something, right?), the adhesive on the halos irritates my skin. Not bad, I’m definitely not allergic to it, but it does itch for a while after I put it on. That goes away sometime in the night but it’s very annoying and I have a hard enough time going to sleep as it is.
My question is: What can I do? Someone told me to use a barrier cream/wipe but I’ve never heard of that. Also I should note that my face gets pretty oily but I clean it with witch hazel before anppl the halos. (It’s not the witch hazel making me itch as I use it a couple times a day) Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
RE: Bleep Halo irritation fix
I was concerned about allergic reaction before I tried bleeps, as I have had several problems with adhesives in the past. But after failure with several other masks, I figured I had nothing to lose.
Long story short, oily skin was the bigger issue. Bleeps were leaking like crazy after about 4 hours. Tried several solutions, ultimately settling on skin prep barrier wipes. They smell like alcohol (primary ingredient), but after wiping nose down, they leave a film/barrier on the skin which will prevent irritation and reduce oil on skin.
If you search amazon for skin prep wipes there are several types that come up. I have had good luck with smith&nephew. I usually wait for a sale, then buy several boxes at time. If you're interested in trying before buying, private message me with your mailing address, and I will send you 3-4 to try.
Your mileage may vary. Good luck!
RE: Bleep Halo irritation fix
Thanks for the reply. I actually got a sample from Coloplast for their Brava skin barrier wipe. I've used it twice now and I think it helps with my skin issues. I've never had skin issues with adhesives before, but everything is always changing...isn't that what they say? I haven't noticed any leaking issues with mine except last night I noticed something was making a buzzing (?) noise as I exhale. That's new.

I rolled over and it seemed to stop. I think the little piece that attaches to the hose wasn't on quite right for some reason.
Thank you so much for your offer, that's really nice. As I have these to try there's no need to go through all that trouble. But I do greatly appreciate it!

I appreciate the suggestion, as well. I use the Bleep Dreamports and sometimes have minor itching. I have very sensitive and reactive skin and some weird allergies, so I'm surprised it isn't worse. This is one reason that I alternate with the Brevida nasal pillows. I will try the skin prep wipes and see if they work better than the witch hazel I'm using now.
RE: Bleep Halo irritation fix
I use the witch hazel first to clean the area then use the wipe. Hope it helps you!

Thanks! Will try that.
RE: Bleep Halo irritation fix
You can also buy a tube of barrier cream. You only need to use a teeny amount and it is way cheaper than wipes.

The Bleeps cause my nose to run and I was told to try astepro nasal spray an hour before I used the Halos..
