Dry Mouth even with Taping
Hello, I posted a few days ago regarding my dry mouth from using a CPAP machine. Almost every night, I wake up with an extremely dry mouth, to the point where I have to take a sip of water just to feel like I’m alive again. I shared my Oscar graph, and it was suggested that I might be mouth breathing, so I decided to try mouth tape. To my surprise, the first night was okay (not completely cured but I did not wake up because of dry mouth only had it in the morning when I woke up), but by the second and third nights, I experienced extreme mouth dryness again. It seems like the mouth tape hasn’t helped.
What I don’t understand is how I was using my CPAP machine for over a year without this issue, and now it's just started happening in the last month. I’m not on any new medications, and nothing has changed in my health. What could be causing this sudden dry mouth? I also don’t understand why this is happening now, as I haven’t changed any of my settings and am still using the same machine.
I’m really just looking for an explanation as to why this has suddenly started happening after over a year of no issues. Also, at this point, my only solution seems to be switching to a full face mask—would that be the best course of action?
For reference, I’m using the ResMed AirSense 11 with the Philips Respironics DreamWear Under the Nose Nasal Mask.

RE: Dry Mouth even with Taping
Did you change the humidifier settings by accident? Or did your heating element stop working? If you have the humidity on you can pre-warm the water and remove the tank to check for warmth.
Has the humidity in your house/bedroom changed? Mouth breathing with a full face mask can also dry out your mouth. Not as fast as an open mouth without a mask. Has your AHI changed?
And lastly. Our bodies are ever changing and throwing us curve balls. Men do go through hormonal changes, Just not as severely as the ladies.

I did not change the humidifier setting. I will check the heating element tonight. It's winter here so Humidity is low as I live in a Condo but i had no issues last winter. My AHI has been steady in 1-1.5 range since I started cpap therapy. You are right about hormonal changes but this happened so suddenly that I feel like there is something wrong with my machine.

Best of luck in your search for a cause/fix.
