GilsNils - Therapy Thread
Hello all. New to this community and have been on therapy for 8 months. I was diagnosed in August 2024 but am sure I have been suffering with OSA since 2009. Anyway, like many of you on this journey, I have not been able to feel better since starting therapy. I have added a screenshot and would appreciate any help you can offer.

Thanks in advance.

RE: Help analyzing OSCAR data
Was 5 min and 20 max the settings suggested by your sleep study?  I see your median minimum pressure is 7.58.

You have many large leaks.  Therapy efficacy goes down as Leak Rate and Large Leaks go up.  Use the mask fit feature to get the mask adjusted to not leak.  Move your head a bit, and make a face to see if the mask holds its seal.

Read about apneas from sleeping positions. (positional apneas)  Some can be addressed with higher min. pressure, others are not solvable by PAP therapy.

Mouth breathing can be a source of leaks. Some resort to cervical collars, chin straps, mouth taping, and oral appliances attempting to resolve mouth breathing and positional apneas.
I only give suggestions from experience as a fellow CPAP user, not professional advice.

Yes. 5-20 was set up by my sleep doc/tech. I’ll adjust my mask to see what I can do about the leaks. Thank you for the insight.

CPAP CAUSING SUNUS ISSUES
Does anyone have any tips on adjusting the humidity or any other settings to help with congestion? I have been waking up with some serious sinus issues. Dry mouth, sore throat and mucus buildup. Im not snoring and can confirm, that I am not mouth breathing (chinstrap). I was using my an N30i but switched since I had some pretty serious leaks. I’m in SoCal and am using a ResMed 11 (equipped with a humidifier chamber and climate line) with P10 pillows.

RE: CPAP CAUSING SUNUS ISSUES
Please don't start new threads as we need to see your history.

Are you on any medications that affect your breathing or sleep?
Do you have any health issues that  affect your breathing or sleep?

Can you post a copy of your sleep report with your personal info redacted?

Many chin straps pull your chin back at an angle and make your apnea worse, they also stretch over time and ley you mouth open.
Make sure the chin strap goes under your chin and only pulls straight up.
Your previous chart showed mouth leaks, which would dry your mouth.
Your leaks were large and compromised your therapy

Consider using a 2x5 strip of Kinesiology Tape, regular original cotton elastic Athletic Tape or a SomNoSeal,  a soft, flexible mouthpiece that prevents mouth breathing and dry mouth during sleep.

RE: GilsNils - Therapy Thread
GilsNils  -  Your 2 threads were related to your therapy.  For this reason, I have merged them.  This provides the reader a history of your past settings and results.  Having the ability to see past attempts and their results will help to form better recommendations.  Please use this thread for all your therapy related posts. I have changed the thread title to, GilsNils - Therapy Thread to be more inclusive.
