[CPAP] One really bad night
#1
One really bad night
Greetings all!

So, I've been doing CPAP for a bit over a year now.  I've had a great time with it so far - I like using my machine and my AHI numbers went from 16 down to basically 0.  I feel good-to-great.

But I did have a very bad, very odd night last night.   I wasn't having any differences in health which I could tie to this - I wasn't more congested or had caffeine or anything.  I had my usual sleep ritual - went to bed and read on my kindle for a bit with my mask and machine on.  But my breathing just felt off.

During the night, I slept some but ended up awake a lot.   I'd try to get back to sleep but many times it felt like I was breathing too deeply?  I tried resetting the machine, turning off humidity and hose heat (at times it felt like the air was too warm, but that could be normal and I'm just asleep before the humidity kicks in on a normal night), even emptying the chamber.   Then I woke up later because my nose was so dry.  sigh.

My machine is set to 9-20 cmH2O.  I clean everything every day.   I use distilled water. I replace all my supplies on the recommended schedule.   My Apple Watch says my O2 ranged last night between 93-99.

So, here are my Oscar graphs.  Any assistance or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.  Please take a look - I'd rather avoid another night like this.

Thanks in advance!!

RE: One really bad night
Were you reading and then sleeping on your back?
Are you normally a side sleeper?

Flow limitations, got you . They drove the pressure up as ResMed treats flow limitations aggressively and cranks the pressure up.
You may have chin tucked slightly or your soft palate collapsed a bit and narrowed your airway. If you were on your back then I bet the latter.
You had flow limitations as you tried to fall back asleep.

Can you post a recent Oscar chart?

We need to see the device settings. In particular EPR settings.
Are you using F12 for a screenshot, Fn F12 for a Mac

Increasing the pressure didn't help as you can see.

Side sleeping would helps significantly.

Thanks!
I do tend to sleep on my side, but I don't remember sleeping on my back last night. Possibly though - it was kinda rough :/

I think I attached my graphs to the original post.  Here are the device settings:

Early on I had tweaked the minimum pressure and had turned off Ramp - I had felt like I was suffocating.   These settings have been working for most of a year.

So, the second night wasn't as bad, but it still wasn't good. That's the confusing part - things have been great for over a year and never once like this.

I saw where the P10 mask was giving some folks issues with the vents being clogged. I clean mine daily, but I just deep cleaned it with vinegar and a brush and then used a waterpic to powerwash it. Smile If I had to guess it does seem like the airflow got better, So we'll see. This mask is only like 2 months old and I haven't experienced this before.

I wish the numbers had more insight as to what is going on.

RE: One really bad night
I wouldn't worry about two off nights.  I doubt you'll have more trouble after cleaning that vent as you did.

Your chart is set up perfectly, except that you need to eliminate the calendar. That way, we can see good information below.

Let us know how it goes. Smile
Machine:  ResMed AirCurve 10 Vauto
Mask:  Bleep DreamPort Sleep Solution and F&P Nova Micro
