ResMed AirSense/AirFit, wrong mask setting?
I recently received a ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet along with an AirFit F20 full face mask. Pressure starts out at 4, but then ramps to 14. I found out I don't need to use an SD card since the wireless signal was okay in my basement. A few days later I learned about OSCAR so started using an SD card anyway. I'm totally blind, so much of OSCAR isn't useful to me, but I can read the text in the daily view area. I'm concerned that in the settings section, it claims the machine is set up to think I use a nasal mask.
My questions are as follows:
1. Is the wrong mask setting likely to change the pressure I receive or affect my therapy in any other way?
2. Can my DME provider determine from the wireless transmissions from my machine that I have an SD card installed even though I don't need one?
3. If this setting needs to be changed, should I tell my contact person at my DME provider? The reason I ask is that he knows I am totally blind as is my entire family, so I'm not going to be poking around in even the patient-accessible menus on the machine. He also knows I don't need an SD card, so I'm a bit concerned about how I could even plausibly know about the incorrect mask setting in the first place.
Thanks for any thoughts.
RE: ResMed AirSense/AirFit, wrong mask setting?
Your sleep Dr. can check & change those settings. I believe the nasal pillow pressures are a tad lower as the pressure is concentrated in a small area. The F20 is a high volume mask and needs more pressure from the machine.
It MIGHT be against policy at the DME supplier to change settings. Another avenue would be to have a trusted sighted friend, such as a member of a church you go to to be your guide. There might even be an organization in your area that could help as well.
RE: ResMed AirSense/AirFit, wrong mask setting?
Getting sighted help isn't a problem, I have a few sighted friends who come over from time to time. My real question here, aside from whether this incorrect setting would affect the therapy I receive, is how I should handle getting this setting changed. Is there anywhere within the menus of the machine accessible to patients I.E. without going into the clinical menu where the type of mask the machine thinks I'm using is displayed? I'd like to verify that the incorrect nasal setting is actually in place before contacting my DME provider about it.

OK, I get it now. activate the screen and push options and scroll down. There you will find the mask setting the machine is on.
