CPAP replacement

CPAP replacement
My Resmed 10 shows that it is time to replace.  I use Medicare, and I am wondering if I am required to have a new sleep study.

Thank you

RE: CPAP replacement
Your doctor should be able to provide you with a prescription for a new device. I don't recommend going to a sleep specialist. Your primary physician can be your "treating physician" and take care of prescription duties.  This is a pretty common question, and I wrote a wiki for this purpose.  Please read Dealing With A DME with extra attention to the last section discussing testing and the roles of the provider, doctor supplier etc.

RE: CPAP replacement
My machines are replaced and covered by Medicare every 5 years.  My pulmonologist writes the prescription and my DME supplies the machine without a copay.  The last time I got a new machine I did not like it, returned it after a week and got another without a problem.

Through a doctor, Medicare, and a DME the only cost I have had for PAP therapy is my yearly deductible with Medicare Advantage PPO/PEEHIP UHC.  Your policy may differ.
I only give suggestions from experience as a fellow CPAP user, not professional advice.
