Can you recognize an aerophagia event in OSCAR?

Can you recognize an aerophagia event in OSCAR?
I am an UARS patient and my therapy is going in the right direction with increasing pressure (now at 13/19) but aerophagia has become my sleep disrupting issue.

I just went through many topics to collect tips for aerophagia, but my question is really if you can detect an aerophagia event in OSCAR?

Tips I collected from this forum (obviously I will try them to improve my therapy):

- Reduce pressure (not an option for me, well, only to start lower and see if I can build up tolerance)
- Neck collar (I have one, will test)
- Tighten neck collar on Adam's apple
- Left side sleeping (I have afib as well, and that gets worse on left side so hard choice)
- Back sleeping (not sure if I can, but can try)
- Wedged pillow

RE: Can you recognize an aerophagia event in OSCAR?
Great question.  I don't think so.  It's too subtle.  I couldn't do it with my ASV and OSCAR charts.

My experience:  When I first started sleep apnea treatment, I couldn't fall asleep.  Just couldn't do it.  While trying to fall asleep, at times I heard this, "gurgling" sound somewhere between my Adam's apple and chest (approximately).  I figured out that it was the pap air penetrating my esophagus through the sphincter and going into my stomach.  I didn't feel the aerophagia, it just made that "gurgling" sound.  It wasn't coming from my lungs because it occurred randomly; maybe every minute or couple of minutes.

When I did learn to fall asleep, I had some aerophagia in the mornings at times (lower abdomen distended and lots of gas).  But not any more (I guess thanks to optimizing and tweaking all the settings).

A few things that I have read here at ApneaBoard that have helped defeat aerophagia are lowing pressure(s).  Another is treating GERD.  And there are other experimental solutions that have helped some members as well.

I thought so, thanks for confirming!

I also recognize the "snoring" from the throat that starts around EPAP 10 on my case. I also assumed this is air going the wrong way.

Snoring is loose tissue vibrating (and bouncing back and forth quickly).

The way to identify snoring is a "very wavy" inhalation wave top (inspiratory snoring).  It shows the severity of the vibration.

Just wondering, could this pattern be it in an extreme form? Second time I see this, only at high pressures, and in both nights I was suffering pretty bad aerophagia including some acid coming up. In addition, last night my RR was 17, which is a value I normally never see (13-15 is normal for me).

During this flow period, I see very low TV (400-ish where my normal is a healthy 540) and my RR is extremely high and even reaches 30+ over a period of many minutes (not the short peaks you sometimes see). My heart really did not like this, it went in Afib (150 bpm) as well but I do already suffer long time.

You are on to something (something is happening to you hear).  IMO, the amount of air lost (into the esophagus and stomach) would be miniscule though.  Can you think of a way to quantify the amount of air lost in aerophagia?
