DME disappointing
I finally heard back from SuperCare, the DME that my insurance company referred me to.
I already bought a CPAP through Lofta, and was just thinking that maybe I could get masks/hoses/etc via insurance. SuperCare basically said that I had to do the monthly payments for a new CPAP (which was even an older model than the one I own) plus a co-pay before I could order any supplies. This doesnt' 'really make sense but they seem a bit administratively gridlocked, like so many health care vendors.
I am wondering: are there any online DMEs that can send me occasional masks and hoses and accept insurance? It seems like a shame to get a whole new CPAP just to get a paid-for masks, and honestly I have a feeling that somehow it'll cost much more than they said it would on the phone - which wan't very cheap.
RE: DME disappointing
Have you contacted your insurance company to see if they will reimburse you directly for supplies?
RE: DME disappointing
You should be able to choose from any in-network provider listed by your insurance for Durable Medical Equipment. When calling that provider, you will need to provide insurance information and inform them you already have a device. I use Rotech, and they can sell anything you're qualified for reimbursement. Since you already have a CPAP, let them know you only need continuing supplies as allowed by insurance. Let the supplier know the make, model and any other information from your CPAP device so they know what tubing, filter and humidifier chamber you will need, and let them know your mask selection.

I've had good luck with Aeroflow sleep. You may want to check them out as well. Like Sleeprider said, be sure to provide them the information they need about your device so you get the right supplies when you order.

I too use Aeroflow, and they get whatever I want, even though I have not gotten a pap machine from them.

Then insurance customer service it is. Get a list of several nearby in network. Get an impression via Google. Go to the new DME and get what you need.
See ya bye old DME.
