RE: Do I really need a new mask?
Ha, now that I asked about masks, my old mask, Its a Mirage Quattro, and I think its a small. with the original cushion. Last night the mask started 'singing' making a vibration sound, woke me and my wife up. not sure what was leaking, but I am off to the medical place to see about another replacement mask.
Originally they gave me one that only fits on the tip of my nose, but I notice that feels like it is closing off my nostrils, a full mask that does not touch my nose appears to be the best solution for me, but always get air leaks around the eyes.
I hope I can just get a new cushion for this mask and call it good.
Also, I was surprised when I saw the charge for this mask they gave me, $375.00 to charge to the insurance, It is the Amara View which is 145.00 on line.
WOW
RE: Do I really need a new mask?
The Resmed airfit F20 fits at the top of the nose and seals well for me. It's been the easiest full face mask I've tried with respect to eliminating air leaking into my eyes. It almost never happens and easy to eliminate when it does.
The pricing you saw is typical of DMEs. They charge a ridiculously inflated price, the insurance knocks it down to the contract or medicare approved price and the patient pays the copay. My DME charges more than $300 for the F20. The insurance approves about $80, and I pay $16.03.

Yikes!
The Airtouch F20 (new model, memory foam seal) is only $156 from most of the DME's on the list!
It's pretty nice too. I had issues with leaks with the Quattro-Air. The Airtouch is like an F20 with a built-in RemZZZ. Very soft.

I assume you're referring to the forum supplier list. I was referring to the Lincare and Apria class DMEs.

Ya... Strange though, my insurance uses one of those specific DME's and their direct-purchase site (open to anyone) is $149 for the F20.
But yes, the amount billed to my insurance company is higher than that
RE: Do I really need a new mask?
Just got back, they still have the quarto that had, just got a new one, no cost. my old one was lose where the hose attached, and was leaking, so the bottom line is, when it is old and leaks, replace it.
Don't tell my wife, she would say I need to be replaced!
RE: Do I really need a new mask?
My insurance allows a new mask , tubing, 5 nasal pillows and 6 disposable air filters every 90 days. I'm taking it all! No cost to me and I really appreciate a fresh hose knowing it's clean and germ free. Nasal pillows get a bit loose after 3 weeks or so so nice to swap out. Change my filter every 2 weeks. I save the mask though for a "rainy day" lol just in case I ever run into an issue.
