[Equipment] New prescription for mask change?

New prescription for mask change?
Hi,

I'm one month into my CPAP journey. I was written a prescription for equipment and sent it without any input. Things are going well, but I'd like to experiment with another mask. I bought one on Amazon, since the price was reasonable (about $50). If it turns out I like it better, do I need another prescription with the specific mask info to get it from my DME (Apria)?

Thanks.

-Chuck

I've used Apria in the past. No script changes necessary. Just tell them which mask model you're using and they'll send cushions and such for that one instead.
Mask Primer

Positional Apnea

Attach OSCAR, etc.

When it's time for more supplies, they should contact you. (My current DME contacts me monthly; my previous DME shipped every 3 months.) Just let them know that you've switched to xyz mask, and which size.

To OP - Perhaps it makes a difference who your health care provider is.

I am a Kaiser patient. I have been told that Kaiser is its own DME and Apria is basically a warehouse that fulfills orders given by Kaiser. Kaiser has specifically told me that Apria will only deliver the specific mask (including cushion size) prescribed by Kaiser. So if I want to try something different, I must contact Kaiser first and get them to change my "mask of record." Frustrating, but there it is.

None of this may apply if you are not a Kaiser patient. Just in case you are, the above info may help.

I can and do change back & forth between masks every now & then. I just tell my DME supplier and they oblige me.

My DME is Rotech.
