EtheB - Therapy Thread

Latest data - a really excellent night's sleep for me.
A question - some nights I put my mask on and immediately feel that it's taking too much effort to exhale and end up giving up and not using the machine that night, then others (like last night) it's as easy as . . .
Any idea's for the reason of this?

I think it is just mind over matter. The pressure resistance is the same, so the factor that make it feel like a bigger problem is mainly leaks. Be sure you have a good mask fit and you should be fine. If you really quit on startup, you could use ramp on Auto mode starting at a pressure you tolerate (the minimum is 4.0). Based on these results, you could change your pressure settings to minimum 7.0 and maximum 7.0 and I don't think it will affect efficacy, and might avoid some of the therapy breaks.

Sleeprider - tried settings as you suggested, but whether it was my error or what but I had to go back to original. Anyway, an absolutely excellent nights restful sleep - I'm absolutely over the moon!

No problem. Your pressure is staying within a few tenths of a 7.0 pressure with EPR 2. My thought was that constant pressure (minimum 7.0, maximum 7.0 EPR 2) would deliver a constant pressure and might reduce the centrals. Glad you slept well.

[attachment=49404][attachment=49404]Well the benefits of using an Airsense 10 and getting excellent advice from members of this board such as Opal Rose, Sleeprider and Dormeo are paying dividends in a manner I could never have thought possible!
My whole demeanour has altered (for the better!) so I'm informed by she who must be obeyed and life is considerably rosier.

THANKS!

RE: EtheB - Therapy Thread
Hi there,
Using my Resmed Airsense10 machine with a N30i nasal pillow mask and these settings :-

Device Settings
Mode APAP
Pressure Min 7.00 cmH2O
Pressure Max 15.00 cmH2O
Antibacterial Filter No
Climate Control Auto
EPR Full Time
EPR Level 2 cmH2O
Essentials Plus
Humidifier Status On
Humidity Level 4
Mask Nasal
Ramp Off
Smart Start On
Temperature 27 ºC
Temperature Enable Auto

All has been absolutely splendid, however recently I've experience a stuffy nose which has resulted in my not using the machine as much as is ideal. So I bought a ResMed F30i full mask (and made the change to the Mask parameter) hoping that the addition of mouth breathing would help but am unable to figure out the best settings and feel that it's much more difficult to breathe.
Can anyone advise please?

Eric
