Evora FFM -- Lots of CAs

Evora FFM -- Lots of CAs
I bought a Evora FFM and while it is a little better over the F30i, I am still getting some small leaks that sound like whistling. I assume either my size mask is not correct (I have the starter set) or the oils from my skin end up making the mask slip at night. I didn't have this issue when I went to sleep.
I see that I also need to increase min pressure to 13.2-13.4 but need to enable ramp since I can't fall asleep above 12.6.

Still seeing lost of CAs and was only able to get around 5 hours on this mask last night. I don't know if it is the physical pressure of the seal that is bothering my nose but my nose was congested while using a setting of 5 on the Resmed once I woke up. After removing the mask I was fine.
Any suggested appreciated as always. I will be getting an O2 ring to see what my levels are as well (any suggestions around under $100 preferred)

You would get more responses if you posted an Oscar chart.  Many of us do not speak SleepHq. Wink
Machine:  ResMed AirCurve 10 Vauto
Mask:  Bleep DreamPort Sleep Solution and F&P Nova Micro

That link is to SleepHq, not Oscar.

You can post OSCAR charts as a new attachment. It does not need to be imgur.

Did your sleep study report Central Apnea as a problem? Make sure you have your copy of the detailed sleep study.
Mask Primer

Positional Apnea

Attach OSCAR, etc.

Here is a link to my 2 day in home sleep study which was done by a local healthcare system. They actually said I don't have sleep apnea

This was the sleep study from Lofta

The link I provided earlier has both the Sleep HQ and OSCAR (at the bottom picture).

The first test results, the events were low enough to have about an AHI 3. With that, and no CA, they said you didn't need CPAP. Likely correct with that info only.

Second test had 17 CA and other Apnea, giving AHI 18.5. Moderate and needing CPAP. The CA showed up that time. I don't think the CA were half, but were elevated somewhat. This means they're a factor to be dealt with, and you'll have a higher sensitivity to them.

Central Apnea will be consistently inconsistent, up then down and back up later with no therapy changes. That's how they are.

I don't think your CA are mask related. I would sit down and make your list of complaints with CPAP, in an attempt to switch over to a ResMed AirCurve 10 or 11 VAuto bilevel to gain more settings to help avoid CA better. Specifically the Trigger setting that edits the inhale sensitive switch over. This may reduce CA passively.

Thanks for the reply. When you mention the list of complaints, is this to be presented to the sleep clinic? I haven't been back to them since September because when I initially mentioned some other issues about not being refreshed the nurse practitioner said "Well some people will never get the energy benefit from using CPAP" and left my settings at 5-15. She didn't even say anything about my air leaks saying she thought they looked ok.

Maybe I need to purchase this out of pocket or at least rent it for a month or two and see if it helps? I could at least try one more time to go in and see what they say. I just don't know with insurance if they are going to replace it because I am in month 10 now with it and is now mine.

No not exactly. Sorry I didn't include that info. This would be get your complaint list of something like "why CPAP is failing me", or "why CPAP is not comfortable for me".

This list needs to go with you to the doctor that wrote the script. For CPAP therapy we don't need a sleep specialist. It's not at all required. Your Primary Care Physician can do this, if they will help. Any other doctor could as well.

Whichever doctor you use, take the list to discuss, and ask if they would issue a new script for a "ResMed AirCurve 10 or 11 VAuto", which is a bilevel, sometimes referred to as a BPAP or BiPAP. This has 2 distinct pressures, exhale and inhale with a pressure support between.

The VAuto should be more comfortable for therapy, and extra controls to support your sensitivity to Central Apnea at times.

Thanks. I will create the issues list and schedule to see. I have a feeling my GP will just defer me to the sleep center as it is in the same health system.
