Fluttering on exhale

Fluttering on exhale
Good morning
When I exhale occasionally there is a flutter in the mask that wakes me up. Almost like an interruption in steady air flow but more like a pulse or flutter. What would cause this? My EPR is set at 3. Running a Res Med Airsense 10.
CA and OA decided to call HYOP and the 3 of them crashed RERA's place, and then the 4 of them decided to call Large Leak to meet in an Unclassified location while Rice95 had the best night of his life.

RE: Fluttering on exhale
Any full-face mask with a larger volume in the mask is prone to moving around as your pressure changes due to EPR or PS, generally swelling in inhale and fitting closer on exhale. Especially the masks with air tubes passing near your ears may seem disruptive. If you're in the mood for a change, you might want to give the Resmed Airfit F40 a try. It has mostly very good reviews, is much smaller and the tube comes off the front.

Hi Sleeprider

I need to update my mask in my profile. I’m on a Res Med F30i. Is this closer to what you are recommending?

RE: Fluttering on exhale
The Resmed F40 is a hybrid type mask like your F30i, but the headgear is more adjustable and the tube comes off the front rather than alongside your ears. My biggest problem with the Resmed F30i and N30i is that the supply tube that suspends the mask is not adjustable. For me, it pulls up on my nose and creates distracting noises, including fluttering with bilevel pressure changes.  Another source of "flutter" is to much water in the humidifier getting into the air-tube.  Pictures for comparison.

Thank you very much. I’ve also had it pull up on my nose causing pain. Do you find it difficult to sleep with the hose next to you while you sleep? I guess it takes getting used too.

I use a Snuggle Skins fleece cover and the tube becomes a warm soft part of the bedding, and the cover is long enough to cover the tube and extension. I suspend the tube using a lanyard around the tube, hung on a Command Hook above the bed. No problem. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007BUOINM

Fantastic. I have a climate hose with my F30i.
Do I need any special hookups for the F40 or am I ok? I’m assuming it’s the same receiver on the F40 mask as the receiver at top of the f30i frame?

It's universal fit. All mask connectors are 22 mm diameter. Using a piece of cellophane around the tube connector makes it slippery and easier to gravity feed into the fleece.

RE: Fluttering on exhale
Thank you for taking the time to help. It’s much appreciated. I’ve been away from the forum for a while. Used to be a visit or 2 per day. My twins just hit college  and also raising a puppy after the passing of our last little Pomeranian.
All my best to you and Opal Rose and Sarcastic Dave !
