Given a sleep study, how to get a script?
I am in US and have everything I need but wondered how this is done. Some people have sleep study then wit months to get an appointment with a sleep doctor. Names or links to such providers appreciated.

RE: Given a sleep study, how to get a script?
It does not take a specialist to write a Rx. Your Family Dr can do it. First you need to know from your sleep study what type of cpap you need. If you have many Centrals you will need a ASV, if mainly obstructive you will want a Bipap or cpap. The most expensive is the ASV, then the Bipap and the cheapest is the cpap.
Have your Family Dr. write a script for the model you need. RESMED machines are the ones that are used here the most and of course the one most of us have experience with. So what you need is a script that says ResMed Aircurve 10 or 11 VAUTO. or ResMed Aircurve ASV 10 or 11 or a ResMed Airsense 10 or 11 Autoset. You can take that script and buy online or use your insurance at a DME. There will be several DME in any city. I have a link in my signature on choosing a DME. Admin Note:

IN US MN my MD will not write but but refers to a specialist. My current specialist is some kind of RN I think. I am hoping more for telemedicine.
IMO MDs think it is hard when it is easier than 99% of what they do.

There as some online companies that will do home tests for you at a reasonable price. Look at Supplier #1 and Supplier #42, they can do the test and get you a prescription. Supplier #41 will do a sleep test and you will get the results to give to your doctor to write the script for a CPAP and supplier.
Any doctor may write the prescription, but they will want to see a sleep study. You can always buy a CPAP on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace if you do not want to go through the process. |
