Help reading oscar plz
Hi
I was diagnosed with positional sleep apnea a few months ago my AHI was 45 per hr, only symptom was snoring, it never woke me up and slept well, probably had it for 10years.
I went out and bought a resmed  airsense 10 autoset , i have got my average down to 1.2  i sleep with a collar,
my issue is i wake alot of times through the night and dont get much sleep and am struggling to get used to the mask, yet i am not that tired through the day which is strange.
i am using a resmed f20 mask and a f30. i am getting no help from company who done sleep study and sold me equipment, and am on long waiting list to see sleep clinic.

Can someone look at my oscar results please and see if i can change anything so i can get better sleep  and make the therapy more comfortable??
Alot of the time it feels like my cheeks are filling with air. ive tried to learn how to read oscar but it goes over my head i am not capable of reading it correctly

i have put last 2 days of oscar up zoomed in on one also

thanks

Your flow limits are high and we help that EPR.  You have yours at 2 - I would suggest you put it up to 3.

Give these settings a try for a night or 2 and see how it goes.

Min7
EPR 3
You can leave all the other settings alone

RE: Help reading oscar plz
Obstructive apnea are. Classified in 3 types. They are labeled as O, H and flow limits. All are the SAME. Thing the difference is between the percent of blockage and how long the blockage lasts. I have how they are catagorized in my signature at the bottom of this post.

Flow limits are the smallest and are not counted in the AHI. BUT FL do 2 things that cause problems. First they cause sleep disturbances by not allowing you to get into a deep sleep and they can cause you to wake up. Second the Cpap detect the FL and raises pressure to stop the FL to get larger and be on an O or H event. The raise in pressure causes mask leaked and sleep disturbances.

I suggested min 7 because you really had very few O or H events and lessening the min could help with you waking up.

I suggest EPR 3 so it would help your flow limits.

Your flow limits look better and your pressures are more stable without the large swings you had before your settings changes.  AHI in both are great, it is all in how you feel.   Remember you may have had apnea for a long time before treating it and it takes a little while to start feeling better.

thanks Stacey, so it can take awhile before you start feeling and sleeping better didn't realise?, been on therapy for just over 3 months.
so you would leave all my settings alone not change anything else?
this was my sp02 and my heart rate, it seemed my o2 spiked down a little does it look ok?

thanks  again for help

RE: Help reading oscar plz
Your sp02 was between 80-89% for only 4 seconds which isn't a concern. You were between 90-94% for 13% of the time which shouldn't cause much concern considering that 85% of the time you were 95% or above.

What jumps out at me is your pulse being less than 50bpm for 75% of the time. That seems a little low to me. A chronically low pulse rate can result in less blood being pumped through your body and thus less oxygen getting to your brain.  Your brain responds slower to drops in oxygen while asleep compared to during awake.  This is something to just consider and be aware of especially if your pulse starts dropping below 40bpm on a frequent basis.

I have been on oxygen at night for over 30 years....  Yours is fine, no problems at all.
