Home v Travel PAP machine
Im about ready to get my first PAP machine. Ive been rated with low moderate OSA. AHI 16.7 Pretty sure I want a Resmed 10 or 11 AutoSense. But I see they make travel machines as well. I dont travel that much anymore and its usually by car, I fly maybe 2x per year now. Cant I get a case for the ResMed 10 and use that? Its not a big piece of equipment and will fit in the overhead of a plane. I don't see that big of an advantage to a travel size machine????

Resmed 10 & 11 both come with cases for travel like most other cpap machines. The small travel machines are actually noisy and you’re smart not wanting one of those. The Resmed 11 is a little smaller than the 10 .

They all come with fitted cases. For flying, the S11 is smaller and lighter and in the case it can fit inside a carry on. The S10 is larger and heavier, and can't fit, not as well. I use the S10 at home and the S11 for travel.
Most if not all airlines will not count the CPAP as a carry on item so you can have a carry-on, personal item and the CPAP machine.

I would not get a travel CPAP and I own one. I used to max out my airline and hotel miles for work and an AirMini made sense for me. But I travel about like you do now, it seems, and the bag your AirSense 10 or 11 will come in is fine for occasional travel. Unless you're a road warrior like I used to be, I don't think the minis are worth the money, although I'm glad I have one. I use it on battery when camping.
The device comes with an FAA letter that says it won't count toward baggage limits, in other words you can have the carryon suitcase, plus one other bag PLUS the CPAP device, I've never had anyone ask for the letter, and the airline folks know what they are you see a fair number of them on most flights. The fact that it is a medical device exempts it from the baggage limit. And the cases they come in are quite good.

thank you all for the comments/suggestions about not needing a "travel sized" cpap. I didnt figure I needed one from a practical stand point. I sometimes travel with my French horn in its case and it fits in the overhead just fine. Couldn't understand why I'd need a miniature cpap when the standard machine is not very big :o)
