How accurate is CPAP software
Recently I developed chronic myoclonus: sudden, involuntary muscle contractions mostly affecting my upper body. I rely on prescription sleep aids to get any rest, though I’m usually only out for a few hours before waking again and get zapped or twitching again in my head. It's like Mike Tyson hitting you in the head. Zopiclone is the only one that works completely.
Health care here is basically survival of the fittest. I’m waiting to see a neurologist, get an MRI, and undergo an overnight hospital sleep study. These nightly episodes leave me unable to sleep without medication. The internist suspects periodic limb movement, but I don’t agree. The symptoms I experience are mostly on my left side, upper body. I also have neck and lumbar nerve issues.
The internist has referred me for an overnight PSG at a hospital. If I’m lucky, I might get it within 24 months—assuming I don’t drop dead first. My diabetes nurse says I’m at high risk for heart attack and stroke, especially with my high cholesterol and statin intolerance, including red yeast rice.
I record the time during each episode and review my sleep data afterward. Nothing ever shows. Out of curiosity, how accurate are these machines and software in detecting EMG activity or irregular events like this?
