How do I dispose of an older CPAP machine?

How do I dispose of an older CPAP machine?
I bought the ResMed S9 and am quite happy with it. Would like to find a new home for the previous CPAP machine. From what I have read, I cannot sell it. Is it okay to give it away? Anyone interested?

RE: How do I dispose of an older CPAP machine?
We see a lot of older used machines on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. Although technically the machines should be dispensed by a DME in accordance with a prescription; the fact is many are sold or given away by individuals. Of course you can't use your forum account to sell or exchange prescription equipment. http://www.apneaboard.com/forums/Thread-...oard-Rules

There is a CPAP Assistance Program by American Sleep Apnea Association. They will take used older CPAPs and provide them through the assistance program. This is a bit questionable since they have a fee that seems a bit high, but I guess it is like the Goodwill Thrift store of CPAP. My preference would be to give it to a friend, relative or neighbor, or make it available at a low price.

Thank you for your reply Sleeprider.  As you will note, I am in Mexico. Where sleep apnea is unknown, or goes undiagnosed. At least in my area. No one has heard of it.

I may just put it on the curb. Mexicans are quite innovative, they may have fun tinkering with it.
