How to completely submerge cpap hose

How to completely submerge cpap hose
Howdy.  I feel like this is an embarrassing question, but I struggle and flail when I try to submerge my CPAP hose, so that it is completely filled with the soapy liquid and no air bubbles, in order to let it soak.   I push on one end and the middle floats up, then I try and snake it around underwater and one end flops up and hits the toilet....

Am I missing an obvious hack technique for doing this?

In Googling about it, I learned of the technique of holding both ends, pouring liquid in and playing see-saw with it.  I also learned of using vinegar instead of soapy water.  But I'd still like to learn how to submerge a squirrely hose in water.

Thanks

I don't even try to submerge the hose. Just fill soapy water in one end and seesaw back and forth. Rinse same way.
Hang to dry. Cpap itself is hard enough to deal with. Try to make cleaning easier. Smile

Using vinegar for a rinse is up to you. I seldom use it as the smell lingers.

I just today learned about the seesaw approach, and I am going to make the switch,  Thanks.

And yeah, I suspect I would not like the residual vinegar odor.

Put one end under water, I am assuming this is in a bathtub not a tiny sink. Fill the end above water with water with enough vollume to force out the air, while holding the sunken end under water.

I submerge the whole thing in soapy water. Likewise when I rinse. I make sure to dry it completely before use. So far, no problems.

I take mine in the shower with me and run water through the hose. Works like a champ.

I also have a brush I run through the hose each week when I clean it. I soak it in dawn and water for 10 minutes first. Then I run a brush through it, pull it back through, and then place one end of the hose to the spicket and run water into the hose until it shoots out the opposite side. Hang out to dry.

This is the brush I use:

I have not washed a hose in years. My insurance replaces it twice a year. Nothing going through the tube but air. Your exhalation vent should prevent exhaled air from backing up inside the tube. No worries.

Sleeprider,

You are probably right that we are being too cautious.  However with my hose, I also have a lot of humidity going through my hose along with that air.  I am worried about a moist, warm environment being a great place for bacteria and other critters to set up house.

It is funny.  When I was a kid, we drank out of a garden hose and swam in the creek.  Now I worry that my CPAP hose has germs.    Too-funny
