Burning smell on my brand new Resmed Autosense 10 Autoset For Her. Any ideas?

Did you have water in the humidifier? Did it dry out?

It would not be odd to have a new electronic device have weird smells when it is first used.

Turn it on and let it run for a while.

Can you let it run, in other words press "Start", without having the mask on? I am having the same burning plastic odor.

Yes, it is fine. Some people dry their hoses this way.

FWIW, my brand new ResMed AirCurve 10 VAuto has had no odors (and I'm sensitive to chemicals, so I'm very aware of odors on new items). For this reason, and these machines being from the same manufacturer, I do not think it is a matter of brand new equipment.

I have washed water chamber, hose, and even wiped the heating plate. The hose is still wet, so I will probably use the non-heated hose I bought today.

I'll let you know how it goes!

I saw something interesting in a prior thread on the burning smell that's reported to be from ResMed: put the power brick on the floor, not near or on same level as the CPAP.

I've made sure the power brick isn't running hot, but I didn't think to put it on the floor. Invoking the gods of magic might be more likely to fix it than ResMed's version.

That's interesting. FWIW, for my new AirCurve 10 VAuto with ClimateLine Air, the power brick is on the floor. No smells. It will be interesting to see if you have the smells again tonight.

Good luck guys! Sweet dreams. Smile

I never experienced it, but my wife did.
DME told her that she must have let the humidifier go dry  (as if she wouldn't know), but it apparently went away within the first week or so.
