Jimmy Lotus - Therapy Thread
I decided to go from what was recommended to me by my (terrible) sleep center of a ResMed 11 to a ResMed 10 C2C version. The MyAir app and OTA connectivity on the v11 seem...intrusive...to me, if and when they're even up and running.
Cheaper for me, much cheaper, as my "insurance" covers zero DME expenses was the ResMed 10 C2C.
I just got the v10 today, opened the box (and it was boxed) and dialed in the clinician menu to find to my everlasting delight that it is indeed a zero-hour BNIB ResMed 10 AirSense AutoSet HumidAir machine.
I'm gonna have a lot of questions going forward, because I'm a maroon, but my first question is:
Should I buy extra SDHC cards? And does it matter if I buy 2GB or 32GB cards? These old SD cards seem to be going the way of the dodo, so to speak.
Thanks much, as always, for any and all advice and help.

RE: Machine change and SD card question
You will need a different SD card for the each machine. Any size from 2 GB up to 32 GD can be used. Any thing smaller than 32 GB will be hard to find, probably.

My first night of CPAP/APAP is tonight
Wish me luck!

I am doing something wrong.
I'm getting plenty of air intake through the nasal pillows, but exhalation back through the pillows is much more difficult, and it both dries out my mouth (which I'm keeping closed and trying to only breathe through my nose which is what I normally do), but when I do open my mouth, massive volumes of air come kind of burping out.

That would be because your EPR is off, if you are used to it being on. Was it off before?

I've watched so many YouTube vids over the last couple of weeks, the Aussie SleepHQ dude, some guy with arm tat sleeves, and LeftyLanky27, among others.
So far, LeftyLanky27's videos are pretty informative. I went with his initial recommendations for my settings (including going into the clinician's menu) and left EPR off. A buddy of mine DMed me in another application and also advised enabling EPR.
Should I go with 1, 2, or 3 cms drop on the EPR?
RE: Jimmy Lotus - Therapy Thread
Go into settings and turn on EPR Full Time at setting 3. Use minimum pressure 7.0 which will start your therapy at 7.0/4.0 (inhale/exhale) and it looks like a maximum pressure of 12 or so should be fine. You had some pretty massive leaks, so you need to stabilize your mask and learn to seal off pressure from your airway to your mouth. This is accomplished with the back of the tongue behind the front teeth against the roof of your mouth. If you swallow, you will find this closes the airway. Practicing can help, and you may want to read the Mask Primer wiki. https://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.ph...ask_Primer

LL doesn't like EPR, and he has his reasons, but one side effect is that your flow limits will start to increase. As a result of that, your pressure started to go up from the APAP algorithm, and as a result of that, you started having trouble exhaling + mask leaks. So I'd start with EPR on at 3cm to get a baseline. If you want to go all out on LL's recommendations (he does no EPR, CPAP mode and a VCOM) then you have to really get your therapy dialled in.

Thanks gents. I'll try the new settings tonight. I've also, in the last couple of weeks, read many articles and posts here and at one other recommended forum. So much good information from real people all getting solid therapy and help for our bad sleep.
