Jolting awake with heart racing, but no events flagged
I've been trying out a BiPap to treat UARS and am hovering around the 5 EPAP and 7ish IPAP range for the past few weeks. I have great numbers, and barely any flow limitations or events, but will randomly jolt awake with my heart racing, feeling like I'm gasping for air. Outside of that, I do feel okay during the day so I think I am being treated, but any idea what would be causing this?

Actually, for an UARS patient, you have way too many OA's. And that is logical as your EPAP/IPAP are too low, especially for UARS (assuming you have been diagnosed). With EPAP 5 most adults gasp for air. Up both EPAP/IPAP with 1, try it a few days, and if it still happens another +1. Most adults do fine on EPAP 6+ - 7. Then it becomes personal depending your needs.

Happens to me too. There's never anything on the chart that might explain it. I've tried various machine tweaks to no avail and now just live with it, as I just deal with the whole flawed APAP experience.
It took me years to realise that these episodes were also causing me to have awful dreams. I believe my mind tries to rationalise the lack of oxygen by creating a dream in which I am breathless, usually due to something dangerous like being chased or drowning. I also experience a weird sensation inside my head a little like quiet explosions popping off, "Pow .... Pow .... Pow". It used to bother me but now I put it down to that lack of oxygen. It fades away after 30 seconds or so.
I really don't understand why the machine doesn't flag an event.
