Just started CPAP - Resmed Airsense 11 EPR Settings
I just had my first night of CPAP therapy and all went well overall, just found it hard to get use to the AirFit F40 mask. My AHI was 52.5 (OSA) during the sleep study and last night it was 2.86 with my pressure set at 8.
I didn't like the ramp feature which was set at 4, so I have turned that off. I also came across the EPR setting (1) and see most people turn it off too.
Should I turn off EPR now or should I wait and see how I do with it on then decide what to do with it?

RE: Just started CPAP - Resmed Airsense 11 EPR Settings
EPR is one of the many setting "tools" one can use to get the result(s) they need. In a perfect world. If you can sleep without EPR. Then your apnea treatment tends to be better as the higher exhale pressure holds your airway open. But it is more difficult to exhale under pressure and EPR makes this easier. But does "sometimes" lead to partial (hypopnea) collapse of the airways called Flow limitations.
Just last night I went without EPR (by accident) on my 13-15 pressure setting to start my night. And while it was more effort to exhale. My breathing flow waves had a very nice sine wave shape (which is what you want) But I reactivated the EPR function that I had tuned off inadvertently and was at EPR3 and my flow waves went to a class 6 shape. flow wave shape I had zero OA's, H's but the Flow Limitations went up.
In the end. Whether one uses EPR or not is an individual thing based on how your charts look and your comfort.

So, I decided to try last night with EPR turned off and didn't have any breathing issues as far as I know, mostly breathe through my nose. I am having more of a problem with my AirFit F40 mask.....my septum gets very painful after a bit and last night I guess i took it off for an hour or so.

Cali929, That's the same issue I had with the F40. Comfy at first and super quiet. But it rode up and crushed the septum area. Now using a very basic P10 with great success.

That's good to hear, I am looking at a nasal mask too and trying to decide if the P10 is the best choice. I may get the AirTouch F20 as well.

I also use the N20 with both the air fit and air touch cushion. That is also a comfy mask. But is more prone to some (but not bad )leakage from side sleeping.

You have no nose pain or comfort issues with the P10 at all?
If you had to choose 1, would you get P10 or N20?
