I have a question for you and/or others replying to this thread. I often see the mention of REM sleep in Threads. I know what REM sleep is but how is it Thread writers know when they were in REM sleep by an OSCAR report? Or, is it some other device besides a PAP machine giving that time frame?

RE: Lavender dream - first time OSCAR output
Congratulations on some excellent looking OSCAR reports.

I only give suggestions from experience as a fellow CPAP user, not professional advice.

Nightynite, I had a home test with a WatchPAT and a result of 36 AHI on when on my back.
ejbpesca, I don’t know if there is any way to tell in the data. I had vivid dreaming last night so I am making an assumption.

ejbpesca, I can't tell if it is deep sleep or REM sleep, but every 60 to 90 minutes there should be ragged breathing in the flow rate chart.
Mine deep sleep or REM sleep are easy to spot for some reasons

Your chart always looks so good and the fact that you only had a home sleep test points to that you really need a lab test to confirm. I think you could potentially not need a cpap machine. Those home sleep test aren’t 100% correct and cause people to believe they really need a cpap machine. Maybe just not sleeping on your back cures the problem. Your charts are like the best I have seen.

RE: Lavender dream - first time OSCAR output
Thanks, Nightynight, I appreciate that. My sleep doc said it was severe and wanted immediate treatment. I think it has helped and can feel the difference. Nights without CPAP are pretty bad for me.
One of the things that led to me getting sleep tested was recurrent sleep paralysis and waking up feeling like I was suffocating but unable to move. Sometimes that would happen 10 - 20 times in a row. The CPAP has treated that as well. The doctor said that I would have obstructive apnea in and out of REM that would pull me out of the dream state leading to the combination of paralysis and apnea. My spouse also constantly noticed me not breathing or in paralysis and would try to wake me up in those situations. I have only done OSCAR for a few days now so it is interesting to see these results. jdougc here are what my Clear Airway events look like over the past few days on the flow rate chart zoomed in and a couple obstructive events for reference as well. I don't know if the flow patterns mean anything on these.

Need to see the whole chart when you zoom in.
Need to see the whole chart when you zoom in. Twice you gasped or sighed which is common. Your brain said O2 sat is high or the CO2 got washed out, so no breath is needed. And you were fine after that. A few times your had flattened top breaths, flow limitation followed by ragged bigger breaths and the same thing happened where your brain said O2 sat is high or the CO2 got washed out, so no breath is needed.

Here is a CA and Hypopnea double zoomed in but with the chart in tact.

At 2:45:30 you had a short unmarked event followed by waxing and waning and then a CA, more waxing and waning and the hypopnea.
You might have been aroused, but need an EEG to know.

RE: Lavender dream - first time OSCAR output
Noticed my pressure a few times at my top limit the last couple nights so rest my maximum back to 10.
Had a new nasal pillow on last night as well since it was time to change it out. Struggled a bit with the mask until about 1 so that part can be ignored. At 3 I was so dry I could not even swallow so got some water and put humidity up to 5. Not sure what to make of this chart. First time seeing some of these in my output (RERA, Cheyne Stokes). No CA's though.

These machines aren’t exact on there reporting of type of events. There ability to distinguish and diagnose accurately events is low.
