Looking For Advice - New User
Hi!

I have been using my CPAP machine for almost 3 months now

I only discovered this board recently and decided to download OSCAR. But honestly this is hieroglpyics to me

A bit about me. I'm male, late 20s. Skinny Asian guy, which apparently my sleep doctor says happens quite often in this area. I'm using the Airsense 10 Autoset with a P10 nasal pillow mask.  I believe the pressure is 6-15 on ramp mode but the OSCAR says 6-20 so I guess I'm 6-20 now? Since I started using CPAP Machine, I haven't felt less sleepy, but I haven't felt more sleepy either. Regardless, I'm determined to use this for the rest of my life for the health benefits

Sometimes I will wake up in the middle of the night with my nasal pillow mask slightly off, which I would have to readjust. Sometimes the mask strap will have slipped below my ear, do I need to tighten it? I remember reading not to tighten it too much. I'm also going to try and change the nasal pillow from S to M and see how that goes. I sleep on my back/sides, I move between the two which might be what's causing the problem? Since the air blows into my eyes, I have woken up with severely red, irritated eyes so I've been wearing an eyemask recently to protect my eyes

From my basic understanding, most of my apneas (especially on 14th Feb) is due to the flow leak, probably mask not on properly. I get <5 AHI on most days but getting it as close to 0 as possible is the end goal. Any advice would be appreciated, cheers

sorry not replying to your question specifically

Can you help me enter a new post? I went to the help tab and it says click on "new thread" at the top of any forum page but I'm not seeing that anywhere.

Welcome

The first thing I see is that your beginning pressure setting is too low.  Your median pressure is always over 8, so raise the 6 to 8.

Your leaks are not bad except on the 14th when your mask moved around too much.  If the top strap is sliding down you probably need to loosen it so it can stay up where it belongs.

You have been using your machine long enough that you don't need ramp.  Turn it off.

Your higher AHI on the 14th is not from the leaks but because you had more CAs that night, so don't worry about it.  You have a few CAs every night, but I think they are treatment-emergent and will lessen as time passes.

Again, welcome, and best wishes with achieving great therapy and comfort!  Smile

Russ, at the top of the page, right above "Main Apnea Board Forum" you will see "Start New Thread".  That's where you click.  Smile
