Loose hose fix

Loose hose fix
Just wanted to share a simple fix for a loose hose connection. Paying out-of-pocket for our equipment, we stretch usage well beyond the "recommended" replacement cycle as long as it is still working. The heated Resmed hose will last a very long time with proper care, but eventually, the mask hose will easily pull out. This can be fixed with a zip tie:
  • Look at the length of the mask hose connector and see how much of it goes into the rubber collar of the CPAP hose. The zip tie is positioned around the collar at about half the insertion distance.
  • With the mask hose inserted, put the zip tie around the rubber collar just snugly; don't make it tight.
  • Remove the mask hose and see how tight the fit is. If it is still loose, tighten the zip tie one notch with the mask hose out, then test again. Repeat if necessary until the mask hose is snug, but not excessively tight. I use a releasable zip tie to make adjustment easier.
  • Once the fit is good, you can optionally use a nail clipper to trim off the tail of the zip tie, and a nail file to smooth any pointy corners.

You could also try a small rubber band. You might accomplish the same thing, with nothing to cut off.
